Guest Lecture at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology: From Concept to Code

On 1 January 2026, I delivered a guest lecture at the Technion titled From Concept to Code: Computational Design Thinking in Practice.

The lecture examined computational design not as a stylistic or formal tool, but as a way of structuring architectural thinking, from early intuition and sketch logic through to systems, constraints, and built outcomes. Drawing on built projects and ongoing research, the session explored how rules, parameters, and feedback loops can support design clarity without displacing architectural authorship.

Through case studies spanning urban systems, landscape-driven architecture, and material assemblies, the lecture aimed to bridge conceptual thinking with real-world application, demonstrating how computational methods can remain grounded in place, performance, and architectural intent.

Student Village Design Advances to Phase Two

The University of the Negev has announced the results of its recent design competition, with the Sde Boker Student Village project successfully completing the first phase and moving forward to phase two.

The proposal envisions a high-density, climate-responsive student community in the Negev desert. Incorporating Compact City principles and passive design strategies, the scheme provides 160 apartments, shaded outdoor spaces, and rooftop terraces arranged in a flexible modular layout. The design aims to foster social interaction, optimize thermal comfort, and establish a strong connection with the surrounding urban fabric.
